My career and education so far — most recent first.

  1. MHR

    1. Senior Software Engineer

      to Present

      At MHR, I lead frontend delivery for a squad of five working on HR and payroll software. My role remains hands-on, but I also help shape technical approaches, review work, mentor engineers and unblock the team when difficult problems come up.

      My recent work has included mobile-first payroll features, the frontend architecture for Learning Surveys, a document manager integration, ag-Grid migrations, and moving our UI repositories and CI pipelines from Azure DevOps to GitHub. I have also helped other engineers adopt AI-assisted development, particularly around task breakdown, context management and repeatable agent workflows.

    2. Software Engineer

      During this period, I worked across modern Angular applications and a much older frontend codebase. I introduced Babel and SASS to the legacy application, allowing the team to use modern JavaScript and a more maintainable styling workflow.

      I also led the UI work for a priority recruitment module, helped extend a reusable table library, and owned an Angular migration needed to resolve breaking Angular Material changes. Alongside delivery, I mentored graduates and junior engineers and documented workflows for the wider team.

    3. Junior Software Engineer

      I joined MHR as a Junior Software Engineer and learned Angular, TypeScript, SASS and D3.js on the job. My first major piece of work was rebuilding the organisation chart from scratch, replacing several older views with a single, modern interface.

      It was a steep first project, but it taught me how to pick up unfamiliar technologies quickly, ask for feedback and take ownership of work in an established product.

    BSc Computer Science — First Class Honours (84%)

    I graduated with First Class Honours, achieving 84% overall. The course gave me a broad grounding in computer science and helped me develop the programming and problem-solving skills I needed to begin working as a software engineer.

    I studied Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology at A level, with Mathematics leading into my move to computer science.
